Syed Waliullah was born in Chittagong in 1922. He Completed his intermediate education from Dhaka Intermediate College, got his BA from Kolkata University.

Syed Waliullah is often considered the pioneer of existential analysis of the characters psyche in the literature of Bangladesh. He is popular for his novels Lalsalu (Tree without roots),Chander Amaboshay (Dark moon),Kando Nadi Kando (Cry, o river). The last two of his three novels, specially Kando Nadi Kando, show his mastery in revealing the inner depths of his characters.

However, his most famous work remains Lalsalu, some would argue because of its relative simplicity.Lalsalu was recently filmed by Tanvir Mokammel. Syed Waliullah was awarded with the Bangla Academy and Adamji Awards in 1961 and 1965 respectively. He died in 1971.

Shyamal Gangopadhyay was born in 1933 in Gaibandha District, Bangladesh. He is known for his outstanding powerful narratives in depicting the people breathing in every strata of the society. Seldom Bengali literature could reach the heights Shyamal could offer nonchalantly. He lived life of many sorts—a welder in a steel factory, a farmer, a small brick kiln owner, a reputed journalist, an editor of a ranking literary magazine, a remarkable novelist and short story writer. Shyamal is known for his unbiased experiences of life before putting them into fictions. He received Akademi Awards for his voluminous historical fiction, ‘Shahjeda Dara Shukoh (Prince Dara Shukoh)’ on Emperor Shahjehan’s failed eldest son. Shyamal Gangopadhyay died in 2001.

The number of hadith in his book, the Sahih, is seven thousand, two hundred and seventy five hadith including hadith occurring repeatedly. It has been said that this number excluding repeated hadith is four thousand.
In Imam Bukhari’s ‘Al-Jami-al-Sahih’ (Sahih Al Bukhari) the Imam had recorded all the Sayings of the Prophet which he found to be genuine after thorough examination and scrutiny. He spent sixteen years in research and examined more than sixty thousand Sayings from which he selected only sayings whose genuineness and accuracy he established beyond the slightest doubt.
